# Set up your Terraria server

> Choose Vanilla or tModLoader, buy a plan, install and join your PC game server.

Terraria hosting is currently available on AppLaunch development. Production hosting is not released yet. This shared documentation describes the development product for customers, staff and AI support.

## Choose your software

**Vanilla Terraria** runs the original PC game. **tModLoader** runs mods and uses a separate release series. Players must use the matching game or tModLoader version. Mobile and console crossplay are not included. TShock is not currently an installer option.

Open **Game hosting → Terraria**. Choose the software, a plan and monthly or annual billing. Europe is the available region. Development checkout uses Stripe test mode; do not enter real payment details. A successful subscription provisions storage, a game port, SSH/SFTP and the selected runtime. Installation may take several minutes. New servers install an AppLaunch-tested stable release. The Installation tab lists official releases for manual upgrades.

## Start and join

1. Open **Dashboard → Services → your Terraria service → Server**.
2. Wait for provisioning and installation to finish. If installation fails, read the failure, then retry in **Installation**.
3. Open **Configuration**, set a world name, size, difficulty, player limit and optional password, and save. Wait for the task to complete.
4. Click **Start** and follow **Console** while the world generates. Do not repeatedly restart during generation.
5. In the matching PC client choose **Multiplayer → Join via IP**. Enter the server hostname, then the assigned port displayed in AppLaunch.

A running process is not proof that world generation has finished. Wait for the console to report that the server is listening. The assigned port may differ from Terraria's default 7777.

## Plans

Terraria has the same eight resource tiers as Minecraft: 4, 7, 9, 12, 14, 17, 19 and 22 GB RAM. Each corresponding plan is $1 USD more per month or $12 more per year. Storage, CPU, backup allowance, five additional ports and three MySQL databases match the corresponding Minecraft tier. Checkout confirms the final price and tax. Player capacity depends on world size, mods and activity; there is no guaranteed player-per-GB ratio.
