# Connect domains and manage ports

> Use a free hostname or custom domain and share the correct Terraria port.

## Connect with the displayed address

In PC Terraria or tModLoader choose **Multiplayer → Join via IP**. Enter the hostname, then the separate port shown under **Server**, **Domains** or **Ports**. Do not assume port 7777. AppLaunch reserves a unique node port for every server.

## Free hostname

Open **Domains**, choose an available label and click **Create free hostname**. The dashboard shows the exact assigned hostname. Development hostnames stay in the development DNS namespace. DNS propagation can take time. Always share the port too.

## Custom hostname

Enter your hostname under **Domains → Custom hostname**, connect it, and add the ownership TXT record displayed. At your DNS provider create an A record for that hostname pointing at the node IP shown in AppLaunch. Use **DNS only** if you use Cloudflare: the ordinary HTTP proxy does not carry Terraria game traffic.

Terraria does not use Minecraft's `_minecraft._tcp` SRV record. No web SSL certificate is needed for the game connection. A domain does not replace the assigned port.

## Additional ports

Open **Ports** to review the managed primary allocation and request or remove additional TCP, UDP or combined allocations. Five additional ports are included in each plan. Configure compatible extensions to listen on their assigned container port. Allocating a port does not automatically make an extension listen. You cannot remove the primary game port through additional-port controls.
